Plan your ABQ journey from parking space to boarding gate
Albuquerque International Sunport is New Mexico’s largest commercial airport and is owned and operated by the City of Albuquerque. It is the starting point for trips from Albuquerque and the wider region, and an arrival gateway for visits to the city, Santa Fe and other New Mexico destinations.
Decide where your car will stay before setting the route. A Sunport parking space, an off-airport parking reservation and a hotel room are separate arrangements. For a private lot, the address and instructions in your confirmation should determine where you drive. Save the booking and return pickup instructions on your phone so that they remain available without a data connection.

Terminal layout and finding your gate
The main commercial gate areas are Concourses A and B, with a C gate area for commuter services. The airport publishes maps for all three terminal levels. Use the current map and your boarding pass to locate check-in, security and the correct gate; confirm the flight display again after passing through screening.
For a family or group, choose a meeting point before separating. Leave boarding passes and essential medication with the person who needs them, and establish which exit you will use after collecting bags on the return journey.

Check-in, security and departure timing
The Sunport’s busy-period advice is to reach the airport at least two hours before departure. Allow additional time before that target for private-lot check-in, unloading, the shuttle wait and the terminal transfer. Follow your airline’s own check-in and baggage deadlines for your itinerary.
For the earliest departure, check three separate schedules: when your parking facility accepts arrivals, when the shuttle operates, and when your airline opens bag drop. A round-the-clock parking lot does not establish that every other service runs all night. Keep travel documents ready and review current screening guidance before leaving home.

Airport-operated parking and off-airport reservations

Meeting passengers and the cell phone waiting lot
The free cell phone lot is at 2325 Sunport Loop SE , north of the terminal beside the Sheraton. Stay with your vehicle while waiting. Ask your passenger to call when they have collected their bags and are ready for pickup, then follow the signed terminal approach.
If you want to meet someone inside, use a paid parking area and allow time to walk to arrivals. For a private parking shuttle, follow the provider’s return instructions rather than treating the cell phone lot as the shuttle meeting point.

Accessible travel and assistance
Accessible spaces are provided throughout the airport parking areas, including every garage level. Ask your airline to arrange wheelchair assistance before travel. Check the whole transfer when booking private parking: the route from the car, the vehicle boarding method and the arrangement at the terminal. An accessible parking space does not confirm that the shuttle can carry a wheelchair. If an accessible transfer is essential, agree the arrangement directly before making a reservation.

Families, food and useful terminal amenities
The Sunport lists a nursing room near the T Connector toward the B gates, a meditation room and adult changing restrooms near the checkpoint before security and in Concourse A. Indoor animal relief is near Gate A7, with outdoor areas at both ends of baggage claim. Confirm the route on the airport map.
Dining includes local names such as Black Mesa Coffee Company and Indian Pueblo Kitchen. Use the airport’s current shop and restaurant directory for opening times, and leave enough time to return to your gate. For an early flight, bring any essential food or supplies rather than relying on a particular outlet being open.

Rental cars and other ground transportation
The rental car center is at 3400 University SE . The airport provides a free accessible shuttle from the terminal’s first-level commercial lane; rental companies keep their own counter and return arrangements. Follow rental-return signs if you are returning a hire car.
Rideshare pickup is at Door 7 on baggage claim level; taxis use Door 2. For public transport, check the current ABQ RIDE timetable and the airport’s ground transportation page. Rail Runner journeys require an onward connection; a rail station name mentioning the Sunport should not be read as a platform inside the terminal.
